Bio Kaiser Permanente has been my home since November 2010. Prior to coming to Santa Rosa, I hailed from the state of Michigan. I attended the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor for undergraduate education, and attended Michigan State University for my medical school training. I completed my residency training in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics through the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners through Michigan State University. After graduation, I joined a multi-speciality group practice for three years (10/07) prior to moving to Santa Rosa for my family. | |

More details about my specialty:As a Med- Peds physician, I get the best of both worlds: Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. I am trained and board-certified in both Internal Medicine (Adult Medicine) and also in the care of children and infants (Pediatrics). With both specialties, I am qualified to treat every age group, and can take care of your entire family (excluding OB care). My focus will not only be on preventative medicine and health, but also disease management of both children and adults. My specialty interests and affiliations within my field:Board-certified in Pediatrics Great health resources that I refer to:Pediatrics An interesting story from my training:During my 2nd year of residency, I traveled to Haiti to partner with the local physician in providing medical care to his village. It was an eye-opening experience as a young physician to have droves of people seek care at a make-shift clinic in the church. It was a humbling experience to see health needs of people who could not be met as the resources were limited. We would work from dawn to dusk with little electricity- delivering/resuscitating babies, managing chronic illness, and treating critically ill patients. Despite the language barrier, it was amazing that a simple touch could break down so many walls. |

People in my life:"Do as I say, not as I do." This is one saying I never heard from my parents. They were all about modeling good behavior and having a positive influence in my life. They have been a source of encouragement during difficult times. My children and people I care about:The next best thing to having kids of your own is being able to spend time with your nieces/nephews. Jana Grace, my niece, has been a joy in my life, and I cherish the time I get to spend with her. An interesting story about my family or friends:I took an adventure excursion through Costa Rica with some good friends. Picture this: white water rafting through class III-IV rapids, zip lining over the tropical rainforest, and enjoying the hot springs in Volcano Arenal were just some of our exploits. |

An adventure I've had:I have had the privilege to travel the world on a variety of mission trips. In January 2005, I traveled to Haiti to provide health care in a remote village. In 2007, I travelled to El Salvador and worked with the local physician in providing medical care to several remote villages. Favorite place in the world:Hands down, I would have to say Kauai, Hawaii. This island is also noted as the "Garden Isle." I marvel at God's creation in the lushness of this place. One of my recent trips:In September 2009, I traveled to Chinhangane, Mozambique with my church to help with teaching and to assist with various projects in the village. |
