BioI was born here in Santa Rosa, and grew up in Sonoma. I attended undergraduate school at UC Davis and went to medical school at Tufts University in Boston. After surviving four snowy winters on the East Coast, my wife and I returned to California and I did my residency at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana. The smog and countless Dodger and Laker fans helped influence my decision to return to my roots in Northern California. I joined Kaiser Santa Rosa in the summer of 2002. | |

More details about my specialty:I enjoy being a family physician because I have the opportunity to treat patients in all stages of life. My youngest patient is 2 weeks old and my oldest is 104 years old. This variety keeps my job challenging and interesting. An interesting story from my training:When I was doing call in the emergency room on New Year's Eve 2000, no patients would come in because of the fear of Y2K. Finally, when everyone realized electrical devices were still working, people flooded the ER around 2 AM. |

People in my life:I met my wife, Jane, when we were undergraduates at UC Davis. We were fortunate because she was accepted to the New England College of Optometry the same year I started medical school at Tufts in Boston. My children and people I care about:We have 2 sons, Justin and newborn baby, Jake. Justin's favorite activities include going for walks in his wagon, dancing to his favorite musical DVDs and giving his little brother kisses. |

Travel | |
An adventure I've had:While on a med school ski trip in Maine, I accidentally skied off the roof of a Greyhound bus which was partially buried in the mountainside. The weather with the wind chill reached minus 50 degrees during that ski trip... a lot different from California skiing! Favorite place in the world:With it's quaint shops and excellent restaurants, Carmel, California has become our favorite vacation spot. I highly recommend The Tuck Box on Delores Street for breakfast. One of my recent trips:The last vacation we took was to Maui this past Spring. Justin learned to love the swimming pool. Jane and I learned to keep a 1-year-old quiet on the plane; you need to have plenty of cookies and crackers on hand. |
